Ultra Singapore 2016

Rave and repeat.

Story by Ashok Kumar September 28th, 2016

debut

Debut. Expectations. Music. That were the few words that people and myself had in our minds before entering the gates of Ultra Singapore 2016. Had the opportunity of a lifetime to document the event on the second day and I definitely wasn’t going to give that change up so easily. Came just in time to watch the performances from DJ Carnage, Kygo, Above and Beyond and Axwell.

I wasn’t disappointed.

ultranauts

Ultranauts, they are called as they came to eat, sleep rave and repeat. They were out in full force to every set and being tired was never an option. Not only were they at their best, the artiste and performers were there to put a show like no other.

Even though people were put off by the mud and other factors, I was pretty sure everyone was having the best weekend of their lives. As the saying goes,

The show must go on.

Hardwork and dedication

All the acts lived up to the hype and every beat made you realise how much work was put into the production. It was a huge show and the amount of sweat put in was inevitable. And when the night arrived, the show came alive.

Above and Beyond’s set was the favourite but Axwell’s music, without a doubt, brought the good times of Swedish House Mafia. At points, it looked it was going to pour, but it only brought a huge gust of wind that was momentous during the whole concert.

And I swear I didn’t know Kygo was born in Singapore. He’s a talent to look forward to.

Thank you

Thank you to Entertainment Technology Asia for the biggest opportunity anyone can ask for. Pleasure working with you guys again. Andrew Netto, thanks for being a great sport and guiding me at the show even though I could see that you were deadbeat. To my fellow photographers on the ground, it was an honour to be sharing the space with you.

And to those who believed in me, this post is for you.

Till the next one,

Ashok Kumar
